A Banda texana Bloodrock foi descoberta pelo Produtor do Grand Funk Railroad Terry Kight em 1969 e tornando-se uma Banda cult, sendo inclusive uma das preferidas pelos soldados americanos na Guerra do Vietnã.
Antes do final de 1972 (álbum "Passage"), seu vocalista principal (Jim Rutledge) e guitarrista principal (Lee Pickens) tinham saído e foram substituidos por Warren Ham.
Bloodrock em seus últimos álbuns deixou um pouco o Hard Rock e suas letras cínicas, alienadas e vingativas de lado, voltando-se mais ao Rock Progressivo, Pop e Jazz, lembrando artistas como Jethro Tull, Todd Rundgren, and Traffic. Durante as performances "ao vivo" na era Warren Ham, a Banda sempre se recusava tocar seus antigos sucessos com temas mórbidos ou cínicos como "Whiskey Vengeance" e "D.O.A.". Curiosamente, em seus últimos álbuns as canções tinham quase sempre mensagens de esquerda ou temas Marxissistas em canções como "The Power".
Uma reunião de cinco dos seus membros originais foi realizada em 2005 em Forth Worth, Texas, em benefício de seu tecladista Steve Hill.
